Crowns

Crowns and bridges are used to repair or restore mouths with missing teeth. They are used to maintain proper occlusion (bite) and a great smile, at the same time they restore basic biting functions. With porcelain crowns or bridges we can create a complete smile, a Hollywood smile, in less than 8 days and give you a new look, repairing any damage while you look 10 years younger.

Crowns (or caps) are a type of dental restoration that, when cemented in place, completely cover the upper portion of a filed-down tooth and enter 1 millimeter below the gum line for an attractive, natural appearance. Dental crowns cover the entire visible portion of the tooth to become the new exterior surface and are an ideal way to restore broken teeth, large fillings or teeth weakened by cavities (caries). The crown fits right on top of the filed-down tooth, reinforcing it and giving it the shape and appearance of a natural tooth. Crowns are made of porcelain, zirconia or porcelain-fused-to-metal.

Your crown won’t be noticeable. The crown can be made to exactly match your other teeth. We take note of the color of surrounding teeth to make sure the crown is made to match them, so it looks like your original teeth.

Veneers

Porcelain veneers are mainly used to change the shape, size and color of your teeth through a fine sheet of porcelain fused to your tooth’s enamel. The procedure takes place after a diagnosis by a medical specialist. We do an assessment of your smile and bite and take X-rays to assess your oral structures. A diagnostic wax-up is also made, along with a wax model of your bite and a mold for provisional teeth. During the procedure, the local area is anesthetized and the buccal-occlusal (biting and chewing) plane is filed down, as is a third of the palatal or lingual portion (upper and back) of the tooth that is to be restored with the porcelain and covered by the veneer.

Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry

You’ll be fitted with provisional teeth while we work on your porcelain veneers. Once they’re finished, they’ll be inserted and you’ll have a spectacular smile! Each veneer is made with a digital scanner and manufactured individually for an aesthetic appearance and functionality. Not all patients are candidates for dental veneers. It depends on their bite, how damaged their teeth are and if the patient grinds their teeth (bruxism). It’s important to remember that a diagnosis will confirm the conditions for each restoration, which will be adapted to each patient. We invite you to send us your X-rays and photos to get a personalized video assessment so you’ll know if you’re a candidate for porcelain veneers or crowns.

FAQ´s

How Do I Know Which Option Is For Me?
Veneers are ideal for color change and fixing small imperfections on the teeth. If you want a change in size and/or shape of your teeth then crowns would be the preferred treatment of choice.
If I Don't Like Them In A Few Years And I Want To Remove Them, Would My Teeth Stay The Same ?
No, your teeth’s enamel will be filed down. Teeth cannot regenerate that layer so if you wish to change the look of your teeth you would need to redo crowns to your new preference.
Does They Change Color Over Time?
Yes, it’s a possibility that crowns stain after years, especially if you have food and drink with dark pigments like wine, coffee and some sauces.
What Is The Difference Between Veneers And Crowns?
Veneers are thin layers of porcelain that are placed in the front of teeth, just covering one side. Crowns, on the other hand, are porcelain or zirconia caps that cover the entirety of the tooth.
How Do I Know That The Color I Chose Is The One They Are Going To Put On Me?
We will work with you from the start with the colorimeter to ensure you get the color you pick.
If I Get Crowns, How Many Days Do I Need?
Depending on the number of crowns, we might need you from a few days to a week.
If I Get Crowns, Do I Get Something For The Pain?
You will have local anesthesia during the procedure and a prescription for anti-inflammatory and pain medication for after. Please note that we do not prescribe controlled substances such as opioids for pain.
