Cosmetic Dentistry Mexico

Crowns are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, fully cup over the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.

Dental crowns encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth, becoming the tooth's new outer surface and are an ideal way to rebuild broken teeth, or weakened teeth by decay or by large fillings. The crown will fit right over the remaining part of the tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and contour of a natural tooth.

Crowns are sometimes also known as "caps". Crowns are made of porcelain and porcelain fused to metal.

Why Would You Need A Crown?
  • The tooth may have been weakened by having a very large filling
  • You may have discoloured fillings and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth
  • You may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect it
  • You may have had an accident and damaged the tooth
  • It may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place
Your crown isn't noticeable. The crown will be made to match your other teeth exactly. The shade of the neighbouring teeth will be recorded, to make sure that the colour looks 'core' is then prepared in the same way as a natural tooth and the impressions are taken.

What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is used to span, or bridge a gap (missing teeth) between teeth. Same as with crowns, teeth on either side of the empty space are reshaped.

A dental bridge is a false tooth or teeth, which is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth or teeth. This is known as a fixed bridge.

A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures.

In areas of your mouth that are under less stress, such as your front teeth, a cantilever bridge may be used. Cantilever bridges are used when there are teeth on only one side of the open space. Bridges can reduce your risk of gum disease and help correct some bite issues. Bridges require your best effort to keep an optimum oral hygiene, but will last as many ten years or more.

Q: How long will my crown last? A: The life of a crown will depend on how well it is looked after, oral hygiene is a must. The crown itself cannot decay. Properly cared, your crowns will last for many years.
Q: How can I calculate the cost of a bridge? A: Bridges are charged just as unit crowns.
For example, if you need a 3 unit bridge (Meaning, a 3 tooth bridge) you will be charged as if it was 3 crowns. We have 3 types of crowns. 6 layers, 9 layers or 14 layers porcelain crowns.
Q: How much does crowns cost? A: We have crowns from $399 US, $450 US and $750 US. For more info on our dental prices, please check our Dental Price List.
Q: Will my crowns or bridges look natural? A: Yes, we match the color of the rest of the teeth. In fact we chose the color with you.
Q: How many visits to the clinic I need to get crowns or bridges? A: Depends in the amount of crowns. Less than 4 you need 4 days, more crowns, 7 days. Bridges are usually 5 days.
